Avoid using vague phrases in your essay

Here is an example of a descriptive sentence that is too vague: I like movies, music , and laughing.

OK, here’s a way to change this sentence into something specific to you: I love cult films, electronic music, and sarcasm. Not everyone loves cult films, electronic music gets on a lot of people’s nerves, and sarcasm is an art not everyone has mastered.

Create a fake profile and check out the competition

How can you compete if you don’t even know what the competition is doing? Men today especially need to compete to grab a woman’s attention online—if she’s even remotely attractive, she’s inundated with dozens of emails every day. Figure out what other men are doing wrong, and let them be the error in the trial-and-error of online dating.

10 Tips on How to Write a Great Online Dating Profile

You want to write your online dating profile as if you just met someone in a relaxed situation, for example: while buying a birthday gift for a friend or taking your dog to the dog-park. What would you reveal to people in these situations? Your dating
profile should mirror this feeling. Your goal should be to share details about yourself without it sounding like you are applying for a job. Loosen up the mood by
making a couple of jokes; keep the tone light and engaging.

I just got back from a reality and documentary conference

works of art to major network executives. The one thing the network
executives kept driving home was how important it is to illustrate
rather than just describe something.
Due to the nature of most online dating sites, instead of video
footage you will have to illustrate your points using effectively
chosen photographs and text. For example, you mention that you love to
travel, well, now is the time to upload those pictures of you
traveling on a camel in …
